The Yogi-Adityanath led Uttar Pradesh State Government plans to introduce an online system for the approval of building plans. A software is being developed that will approve or reject building plans within a few hours of uploading. At present, it takes nearly two to 30 days to get the building plan layout sanctioned.
Presently the authorities have to be dependent on manual and traditional methods to sanction building plans. The officials currently examine if the building plans are designed by keeping the bylaws and land use in mind.
Ishtiaq Ahmed, chief architect and town planner at GDA said that currently the officials have to examine building plans and see if they are designed while abiding bylaws and land use. The officials also have to check if all departments gave their NOC for the plan and this takes a lot of time, he added.
According to the sources, all the bylaws will be embedded into the system and will be checked for violations at the time of uploading map online. However, the sources refused to reveal details about the system and its working and said that that the project is in the initial stage.
Ahmed also said that the GDA [Ghaziabad Development Authority] is carrying out online building plan approvals. However, such plans are limited only for ‘low-risk’ properties. The private agencies backed by the development body or the GDA developed these properties. Presently, it takes 48-hours to get the building plan approved for such properties.
He further said that the new software is being developed in such a manner that the building plan approval becomes a matter of few hours post uploading.
The residents also feels, that the introduction of an online map system will make the task easier however the similar kind of proposal given by the GDA failed earlier. The residents also said that the online system will minimize the chance of corruption.
