Under PMAY [Pradhan Mantri Aawas Yojna] the Pune municipal corporation has sanctioned the construction for 6,000 affordable homes. These homes will be built by private players and will turn the dream of being a property owner into realty.
Prashant Waghmare, the city engineer said that the idea is to offer homes to urban poor and these dwelling units will be built in different parts of the Pune city. The Corporation earlier gave nod to 6,264 houses in the city. All these houses will be built for EWS [Economically Weaker Sections] and low and middle-income groups [LIG and MIG]. The construction of these affordable homes is planned on municipal plots that are kept reserved urban poor housing projects in Kharadi, Hadapsar and Vadgaon areas.
The city engineer also said that the municipal corporation will shortly announce the dates for the lottery to elect the beneficiaries. For the same, the Pune Municipal Corporation is also making necessary arrangements in coordination with financial institutions.
Earlier this year, all the aspiring home buyers were made mandatory to hold Aadhaar cards to own a residential unit under the Pradhan Mantri Aawas Yojna [PMAY] in Pune must have Aadhaar cards.
Approximately, 30,000 beneficiaries are lined up for 15 PPP [Public Private Partnership] model schemes in the areas falling under the jurisdiction of Pune city. The detailed project report also known as DPR is in the process of being prepared under the PMAY scheme. Another reason to be the beneficiary under PMAY scheme is that the applicant must not own a residential property on his/her name in any part or region of India.
