The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation hired a private firm to prepare the Development plan of the merged old city and the frontier areas along with the areas that will fall under the vicinity of the proposed extension of the municipal limits.

Shravan Hardikar, the Municipal Commissioner gave nod to HCP Design Planning and Management company who will be paid Rs6,570 per hectare under the proposal. In 1995 the old city areas were merged and they include Pimpri, Chinchwad, Bhosari, Chinchwad, Akurdi, Nigdi-Pradhikaran, Pimple Saudagar, Pimple Gurav, Rahatni, and Kalewadi. The other border areas that merged in 1997 include Talawade, Kiwale, Charholi, Ravet, Dudulgaon, Borhadewadi, Wadmukhwadi and Chikhali. The total merged area is 86 sq.km.

Prakash Thakur, head of town planning, PCMC said that the revision of current municipal limits development plans is necessary. He also said that a private company should carry out the survey of the municipal limits in order to know the current land usage to prepare the Development plan.

A total of seven villages fall under the proposed extension include Sangavade, Dehugaon (excluding) Dehu Road Cantonment Board limits), Gahunje, Jambhe and Marunji. In June 2015, the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation submitted a proposal to the State Government and prepared a development plan for the border areas of Tathawade that cover 6.38 sqkm was sanctioned in the year 2017.

A proposal will be submitted by HCP Company after studying site conditions, traffic and surroundings in the areas along with future growth development situations. The future scenario will then be converted into requisition of land for various uses, like housing, infrastructure, etc.
