The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation [PCMC] collected approximately 60% property tax online.
Dilip Gawde, Additional Commissioner of the city said that so far the department has collected Rs 162.63 crores property tax and it is estimated that nearly 60% of this tax collection from the property owners has been accomplished via a digital method that is through the online portal. Commissioner further said that a total of 1.57 lakhs property holders were liable to pay the property tax out of whom 85,861 property holders have already the tax which amounts to Rs 94.42 crore online.
Gawde, was also quoted saying that the IT professionals residing in the nearby areas like Sangvi, Pimple Saudagar, Pimple Nilakh and Wakad are mainly responsible for the increase of property tax payment online as these professionals prefer using digital platforms in order to make payments.
June 30th was the last date for submission of property tax in Pimpri Chinchwad up to which 16,977 property owners made a total payment of Rs 37.48 crore via cheques. Whereas 206 property owners used Demand Draft facility to pay the property tax amount which brings total to Rs 1.88 crore.
Other than the IT professionals residing near Pimpri Chinchwad, the PCMC [Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation] is planning to build 550+ housing units for EWS [Economically Weaker Section] under the affordable housing project PMAY [Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana] in which the Central Government aims to provide housing for all. According to the sources, the construction procedure of these units will cost 54 crore rupees and is likely to be completed in two-and-a-half years.
