NPCCL i.e the National Projects Construction Corporation confirmed to carry out the construction of 256 residential units in Sector 9, Dwarka, New Delhi. In the press release, the company said to build these housing units for the officials of Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC).

S Ramesh, chairman, CBIC said that the officials were demanding residential accommodation from a long time and this was long pending. He also said that that the department should look beyond the planned land parcel to fulfill the demands of residential accommodation. This housing project is estimated to cost nearly Rs. 211 crore and the expected period for the completion of these units is around two and a half years.

The revenue department received a land parcel of 17,832 sq. meters to cater to the housing demand of the institution. A guest house cum transit hostel enabled with several facilities is also planned on this land parcel.

Manohar Kumar, CMD, NPCCL said that the same land was allotted to the Delhi Development Authority initially for constructing the Central Board of Direct Taxes and then in the year 1996 the same was transferred to the Central Board of Indirect Taxes in 1996.

Earlier, NBCC i.e. National Building Construction Corporation has planned to redevelop six colonies falling under South Delhi locale that includes Sarojini Nagar and Nauroji Nagar. After this, the Delhi high court cleared the air and said that no further construction can be permitted in Nauroji Nagar even if NBCC gets clearance for the redevelopment of other areas
