In order to reduce the hassle of taxpayers, the Income-tax department on Friday launched the facility of instant generation of e-PAN on a real-time basis, which is expected to reduce the interaction between the department and taxpayers.
As per the announcement, the facility is available to valid Aadhaar card holders, resident individual taxpayers and not for Hindu undivided family (HUF), firms, trusts, and companies. Currently, it is free of cost and is open for a limited period on a first-come, first-served basis.
Procedure of generation of e-PAN
- Log on to Income tax portal.
- All you have to do is to submit your aadhaar number. Keep in mind that all details in you Aadhaar should be correct as no other documents need to be submitted. The details of the Aadhaar will be automatically fetched up by the database.
- Once the number will be submitted an OTP will be sent on the registered mobile number. After the e-KYC will be done, the process of e-PAN application will be initiated.
- Now you have to upload a scanned copy of your signature on a white paper with the specifications given on the website. After filing the complete application, a 15-digit acknowledgment number will be generated and sent to your registered mobile number or email mentioned in the application form.
