The North Goa Planning and Development Authority i.e. NGPDA issued notification of outline development plan (ODP) 2025 for Calangute-Candolim.
The copies of development plan 2025 are available at the office of NGPDA in Mala, Panaji for public inspection. These copies can also be viewed at the Arpora-Nagoa, Calangute and Candolim panchayats.
R K Pandita, the member-secretary of the North Goa Planning and Development Authority said that the notification of Development plan 2025 is issued under Section 37(1) of the Town and Country Planning Act. He also said that due to time to time amendments the ODP [Outline Development Plan] shall be subject to the provisions of the Goa Land Development and Building Regulations, 2010.
In the outline development plan, there are areas dedicated for parking, rainwater harvesting and educational institutions in comunidade land. Under the plan an area is allocated for solid waste management.
In the meeting that held in October, the outline development plan for Calangute-Candolim was tabled in front of the Town and Country Planning board to consider the proposal under Section 36 of the TCP Act. The proposal was sanctioned in the meeting itself although some also raised concerns over the construction of hotels in the eco-sensitive zone.
Rajesh Naik, the chief town planner shared the information that the government has sanctioned the plans which was recently notified.
Earlier the BJP-led government in this union territory issued notification related to change of zone. The change in zone can also offer a revised view to the landscape of Goa.
