MahaRERA i.e. the Maharashtra Real Estate Regulatory Authority directed all the promoters in the state to submit the quality assurance certificate issued by the engineers on the MahaRERA website from December 1.
Vasant Prabhu, the MahaRERA secretary said that the engineer or the site supervisor is required to issue a certificate similar to an affidavit stating that construction in this particular project is carried out according to the development permission and the pre-approved plan. This certificate also includes material testing and workmanship. The authority took this action after receiving complaints against builders/developers. The MahaRERA officials also said that the promoters should get themselves registered with the authority as soon as possible and also directed them to submit all these documents at the time of registration.
The promoters who are already registered with MahaRERA should upload this certificate on the authority’s portal. The officials also said that the engineer will keep a check on the basic material used, including cement, bricks, concrete and steel apart from the workmanship quality as a part of a certification process.
Shantilal Kataria, the Credai Maharashtra president shared the information and said that we have demanded certification from all the developers as this move will boost the real estate market. Also, this will build confidence in the prospects that they will buy a qualitative home.
The MahaRERA is also planning to seek the details of real estate agents, contractors, architects, structural engineer and other persons involved in each project. The authority feels that this action will bring in transparency, accountability and will make information accessible easily.
