The trial run of Lucknow Metro’s North-South corridor has been completed successfully and this metro will become functional from February.
This metro project was started by the earlier Uttar Pradesh Government and has become ready for operations two months before the set deadline that is April 2019. The trial run was completed for the remaining part of the North-South corridor of Lucknow metro.
Kumar Keshav, the Managing Director of Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation [LMRC] said that we have successfully completed the trial run of the remaining section of North-South corridor and it will become operation from February which is two months ahead of the targeted deadline that is April 2019.
This is a 23-km long stretch with 21 stations for which the commuters will have to pay Rs. 60. At present, it takes 90 mins to reach the airport from Munshipulia but this metro route will reduce the travel time to 40 minutes. Also, the Lucknow metro project will reduce traffic congestion which the city residents have to face every day.
Keshav Kumar also said that it was challenging to construct metro in a city like Lucknow. He also said that LMRC [Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation] made a world record for making the fastest metro project to be implemented.
Kumar the managing director of LMRC said that the metro project is the New Year Gift to the residents of Uttar Pradesh’s capital city Lucknow.
The Lucknow metro is the most expensive transport system in the Uttar Pradesh till now. This project has a total of 8 lines out of which 1 is approved, 1 is partly functional and 6 are in pipeline.
