The Haryana Government’s Urban Body department recently announced a 30% rebate on property tax’s penal interest. This decision by the Manohar Lal Khattar-led BJP State Government came as a major relief to thousands of property owners.
Both, Chief Minister Khattar and Kavita Jain, the ULB minister of the state gave their nod for this proposal and also set December 31st as the last day for the payment submission of property tax. The property taxpayers can avail the rebate only if they submit the tax on or before the set deadline.
There are more than 20 lakh property taxpayers in the state who fall under multiple civic bodies and thus the State Government declared a rebate of 20% for the property owners who submit the taxable amount prior to June 30.
The officials said that the tax collection is high in Gurgaon, Faridabad and Panchkula apart from other regions. The absence of a rebate offer is said to be one of the reasons for lesser generation of tax revenue.
Earlier this year, Haryana CM inaugurated HRERA [Haryana Real Estate Regulatory Act] and this portal is divided into two segments which include Panchkula and Gurugram city. Now the residents of the state can lodge complaints online and also have the facility to check the status of the same with the click of a mouse.
The Haryana CM also said that the authority is planning to resolve grievances within 60 days of filing a complaint and also said that the Government is planning to form an Appellate Tribunal and the headquarter of the same is planned to be located in Karnal.
