In a recent development, it has been revealed that the Leh, headquarters of the new UT Ladakh, will be included under the smart cities mission of the Union Government. According to the sources, the Housing and Urban Affairs Ministry will soon visit the city and will check the ground reality of the different areas and what sort of development is needed in the city.
Once the visit will be concluded, a detailed plan will be prepared by the authorities for the development of the Leh.
Giving more details on the above development, a senior ministry official said, “Leh has tremendous growth potential. It also one of the popular tourist places in the world. So, the city needs a lot more development to have better infrastructural facilities for the residents as well as the tourist too.”
He further informed that there are many developments which are already ongoing in the city to improve the current condition of the residents as well as the amenities which already exist. The government is working hard to kick start the developmental works here which will provide thrust to the overall market may be economy or real estate of the city.
To maintain and protect the local culture, all the developments will be carried out in a direction, which the government is monitoring closely, added official.
The other newly-formed Union Territory Jammu and Kashmir has already been provided with the smart city tag by the government in their first list. As per the government’s smart city mission scheme, all the state and UT Capital’s will be given smarty city tag.
