The Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority sanctioned the extension of phase 2 metro connectivity from Noida Sector 71 to Knowledge Park 5 in Greater Noida. This extended metro route will have a total of 9 stations that are estimated to cost Rs. 2602 crores.
There are five metro stations in the first phase of the project starting metro route from Noida sector 71 and go on to sector 122, sector 123, sector 4 to Greater Noida west at Ecotech 12 and culminate in Greater Noida sector 2 which is likely to be operational in 2019. For the first phase metro project, the cost of Rs. 1521 crores is estimated and it is expected to be completed by 2020-21.
Anup Chandra Pandey, the Chief Secretary Uttar Pradesh said that for the complete project a detailed project report (DPR) was prepared two years back in 2016 and it will be reviewed and implemented with few changes. He also said that the metro consecution will be accomplished on a pro-rata basis.
The Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRA) is appointed as the nodal agency for phase 2 metro expansion scheme the GNIDA [Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority] will give Rs. 151 crore as its share for the construction of first part of phase 2 metro. This share is a contribution of the total Rs. 1521 crore. The remaining amount will be borne by NMRC from Noida authority, central and state governments respectively.
GNIDA’s project and land departments will work together on land survey for the metro work.
Narendra Bhooshan, CEO GNIDA said that these two departments will work together to gather all the necessary data from the geographical survey to the removal of encroachment on land for metro work.
