In order to decongest some of the major areas around HUDA City Centre metro station, the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) has planned to develop a two-way flyover and a right-turn underpass in next one year. For this, the authority has already invited bids so that they complete the project by December 2019 or early 2020.
Since the past 8 years, the stretch between Signature Towers and Bakhtawar Chowk, passing through IFFCO Chowk and Golf Course Road is facing heavy traffic problem. The authority has come up with many temporary solutions but nothing worked. So finally they decided to launch this project.
According to sources, there will a 705-meter underpass and a 270-m bi-directional flyover. The overall cost of the project will be 43 crore.
“The underpass will be constructed to serve commuters from the Signature Towers to Subhash Chowk. This underpass will start 250 m before the HUDA City Centre Metro Station and will end after the Taj City Centre. On the other hand, the flyover will be built to help commuters between sector road and the MF Husain Marg. The carriageway will be 10.5-m wide, with a 0.5-meter-wide crash barrier and a 1.2-m-wide median.” Sources added.
Apart from this, the GMDA is also planning to develop foot overbridges at the Signature Towers and near IFFCO Chowk Metro Station to provide relief to daily commuters.
Recently, PM Narendra Modi has also inaugurated the much-awaited Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP) Expressway to ease traffic flow between Gurgaon and the national capital. The expressway will also significantly reduce the traffic from north Indian states to central, western and south India and vice versa.
