GDA i.e Ghaziabad Development Authority has planned to incur a cost of Rs. 150 crores for the construction of flats in Tulsi Niketan as the present flats are in a not so good condition.
As per the sources, the authority is planning to make use of 50% of the total area to build new flats whereas the remaining land parcel will be used to develop group housing societies. At present, the GDA is conducting a joint survey of the area along with the residents to get their consent for the same.
Kanchan Verma, vice-chairperson, GDA said that recently the Tulsi Niketan residents had a meeting with the officials regarding the same. In this meet, the authority tabled the plan to construct 2,000-odd LIG or EWS flats on 50% of the land. The remaining land parcel will be sold to the developers to recover the cost incurred in the redevelopment. Once sold the developers here can construct group housing societies.
Vice Chairperson also said that we estimate the expense of Rs. 100 crore initially to develop new flats and Rs. 50 crore is expected to be the cost for lying water and sewer connections in the area.
Apart from this, Verma also said that the flats will be developed near to the parks only after NGT allows the same as the residents will then be shifted there only.
She was quoted saying that the Ghaziabad Development Authority will demolish the existing buildings after the relocation of residents and will construct parks and community centres here. She also said that the department of planning is currently working on the layout and the same will go forward to the GDA board for approval. We seek consent from the residents before sending the layout for further approval.
Kanchan Verma said that we aim to complete this project in two years but most probably the work on the same will begin after the general elections.
