In a recent happening, the Delhi Development Authority [DDA] cut the rates of the flats built for the Economically Weaker Section [EWS]. The authority brought down the unit cost by 40% and also plans the launching of a new scheme from 30th August.
Under the DDA Housing Scheme 2019, the authority has developed a total of 17,922 residential flats and 7,700 flats are located in Narela for the people coming under the ES category. DDA, however, only received 1500 applications for these flats and this is why the authority decided to remove these apartments from the scheme.
The unit price of EWS flats has come down to Rs.12 lakhs from Rs. 17 lakhs.
The authority offers 6,536 flats in Narela’s Pocket 1A, 1B and 1C at a unit cost ranging between Rs.10.8 lakh and Rs 12.2 lakh. The unit area of these flats lay between 35.4 square metres and 37.3 square metres. Apart from these, the Delhi Development Authority is also planning to offer 960 flats that cover area of 29.7 square metres. These flats are situated at G7/G8 of Sector-V, Narela, and values Rs. 9.5 lakh.
DDA has changed this strategy to sell these flats in Narela as not many people are showing interest in these units. Also, the online applications can be submitted from 30th August. After receiving a not so good response in the housing Scheme 2019, the authority allotted only 8,438 flats out of 17,922 flats initially.
In case of apartments in Narela, over 3,000 housing units are already surrendered allottees. The Delhi Development Authority is also figuring out a new strategy to sell 1 and 2 BHk units.
Delhi police have come forward to help the authority in case of 2BHk housing units in Narela.
Tarun Kapoor, Vice-Chairman DDA said that the authority has offered two-bedroom flats in Narela to Delhi Police and the department has agreed to take them.
However, the problem to sell 1BHk units in the locality is still unsolved as there re no prospects for these units and the PSUs are also not taking interest in these apartments.
