The Narendra Modi-led Central Government is set to launch the Global Housing Technology Challenge. This task will help the Government to deal with housing shortage issue that too within a time-bound manner, an official said.

Hardeep Singh Puri, the Union Housing and Urban Affairs minister will launch this challenge as an initiative under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban also known as [PMAY-U]. Durga Shanker Mishra, the Ministry Secretary shared this information.

Mishra tweeted, “The Global Housing Technology Challenge which promises to usher a paradigm shift in our construction sector by enabling a technology transition is a positive step in this direction.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Pradhan Mantri Aawas Yojna in June 2015 with the aim to offer housing for all by 2022. Under this flagship programme, the Central Government is also offering a subsidy to women homeowners.

All people falling under ESW [Economically Weaker Section] and MIG [Middle Income Group] can now own a home under PMAY which is launched in both Urban and Rural areas.

Till now the Government has sanctioned nearly 68.5 lakh houses to be constructed under Pradhan Mantri Aawas Yojna (Urban).

The Global Housing Technology Challenge will be launched by Hardeep Singh Puri, Union Housing and Urban Development minister at National Media Center on 1430 Hrs.

Now, the home buyers in Noida-Greater Noida region can also avail the benefit of interest subsidy of 2.5lakh rupees on the home loan borrowed to own a home under Affordable housing scheme.

The necessary codes are allotted to the Noida and Greater Noida authority and the information of the same has been sent to Housing and Urban Development Corporation [HUDCO] and National Housing Bank [NHB].
