In a recent development, the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has eased construction approval systems for smaller housing units with configuration 60×40 sq ft located in the city. So, from now onwards, individuals who want to develop their own house on a smaller plot size need not take construction permission from the civic authority.
Giving more information on the above, N Manjunatha Prasad, Commissioner, BBMP said, “To ease the approval norms, we have decided to make this move. Till now even the small house owners who want to construct accordingly need to wait for the approval from the authority. Due to this, the construction gets delay.”
However, he also informed that it does not mean they will not adhere to the building by-laws. On the other hand, they still have to submit the plan of the construction at the BBMP office which must be prepared as per the decided building laws and norms.
A senior BBMP official added that in case there is no violation in the construction laws then the house owners can easily obtain occupancy certificates (OCs) and other required documents for the housing unit.
Also, the civic body can anytime hold an inspection of the construction site and thus in case of any violation; they can issue provisional orders under multiple sections of Karnataka Municipal Corporation Act, 1976.
Prasad also informed that the building plan approval will be given in the three days from the date of submission and after that, the officials have to complete the inspection process in the next 30 days.
