The Andhra Pradesh Government took a decision to sanction the Land Pooling policy in the Vishakhapatnam city. This decision is taken to boost the affordable housing project as the Government sanctioned land pooling of nearly 880 acres area in the suburb area of the Vizag city.
This also includes a 321-acre land pocket in the Ramavaram village of Anandapuram mandal and 560 acres in Mudapaka of Pendurthi mandal.
All the pooled land will be available for the housing projects under the ‘Housing for All by 2022’ scheme. The Vishakhapatnam Metropolitan Region Development Authority [VMRDA] will share the responsibility of land pooling and development of these land parcels and will also receive 25% developed land to make up for the expenses that will be incurred in the process.
The State Government also gave nod to approximately 54,000 dwelling units, in a four-phased manner that falls under the affordable housing in the partnership category. The biggest challenge for the authority is to identify appropriate land parcels as the Vizag city doesn’t have bigger land plots.
The Chandrababu Naidu-led State Government has decided to fast-pace the land pooling policy in order to fasten the work of housing projects as the general assembly election are a few months away.
Earlier in 2017, the VMRDA [Vishakhapatnam Metropolitan Region Development Authority] was made responsible to carry out the land pooling exercise in nearly 900 acres of land at tri-junction close to Lankelapalem and a 150-acre land parcel in Kommadi and Paradesipalem.
After which in October, the State Government gave consent to the approval of nearly 80 acres in Dabbanda of Anandapuram mandal.
In Dec, the authority was also directed to pool nearly 222 acres of land in Kothavalasa village of Bheemunipatnam mandal and Sowbhagyarayapuram village that fall under the jurisdiction of Pendurthi mandal.
Recently, the State Government also ordered to pool 800 acres of another land parcel in the district.
