In Goa, 1,500 families qualified to avail benefits under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Gramin), which is a rural category of the housing scheme launched by the Central Government. Out of these 1,500 families, 400 are likely to get benefitted in the first phase of scheme implementation in Goa according to an official of the Rural Development Agency [RDA].
The panchayat and village Gram Sabha meetings were held to approve these names after all 1500 families were found eligible for the PMAY Gramin scheme according to the socio-economic caste census that took place in the year 2011.
The panchayat and block development officers prepared proposal under the scheme after receiving verified records and sent the same along with land documents, photos of the residents and photos of the families’ current houses. A designated team from the Central Government will be visiting Goa in some time to upload the details online in order to complete further procedures. The funds for housing under PMAY Gramin will be released according to the details uploaded on the portal and scheme requirements.
The eligible families can avail the benefit of PMAY Gramin up to Rs three lakhs and are required to produce land documents/NOC from the landlords where the homes are to be constructed.
