The residents of the orange city have a reason to cheer as the Nagpur Municipal Corporation proposed No Revision in tax for the next fiscal year i.e. 2019-20. The department of property tax proposed to keep the tax slab unchanged. This proposal is submitted to the standing committee which is scheduled to meet on 25th January.

The department of property tax said that under provision 99 of Maharashtra Municipal Corporation Act, 1949 this proposal should be tabled in the general body meeting which is scheduled on 20th February.

According to the proposal, there is no change in the property tax slab for residential, hotels-restaurants, mangal karyalayas, lawns and hospitals. The Nagpur Municipal Corporation will collect the property tax for the current fiscal year as already proposed.

Other than this, 35 more proposals related to multiple civic works including tarring and concretization of roads is planned to be tabled before the panel headed by chairman Virendra Kukreja.

PWD, i.e the public works department of Gandhibagh zone submitted two proposal costing Rs. 22 crores and Rs 4.10 crores to set up E-Libraries in Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj Vachanalay, Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati Abhyasika and Digital Library in the Chitnispura locality.

The department also seeks the appointment of two project management consultants for these projects.

Earlier this month, the Nagpur Municipal Corporation decided to wave-off charge on the late payment of property tax. This decision came as a relaxation to the city residents as now the interest will be implied on them after three months of receiving the demand notes.

Abhijit Bangar, the Municipal commissioner approved this proposal and the Nagpur Municipal Corporation took this decision after the civic body completed revaluation process of 5-6 lakh properties according to the new property tax system that comprises of rent chart+ready reckoner value.
