The Government informed Lok Sabha that a subsidy of more than Rs. 8,300 crore is disbursed to over 3.7 lakh home buyers under the PMAY’s Credit link subsidy scheme. This is a flagship programme of the Narendra Modi-led Central Government launched in the year 2015.
While giving a written answer to a question, Hardeep Singh Puri, the Union Urban housing and development minister said that under the Credit-linked Subsidy scheme that was launched under the Pradhan Mantri Aawas Yojna, the Government has disbursed exactly Rs. 8,378.15 crores to the 3,77,022 home buyers.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi- launched this scheme with the aim to offer “Housing for All” by 2022 and thus planned to offer financial assistance to the homebuyers.
The people falling under the EWS i.e. Economically weaker section, MIG i.e. Middle-Income group and LIG i.e. Lower Income group section are eligible to avail the benefit of subsidy scheme as this will offer a better opportunity to the homebuyers for being a homeowner.
The Gujarat top the list of subsidy disbursal with Rs. 2,683.63 crores, followed by Maharashtra at second number Rs. 2,356.44 crore, Uttar Pradesh at the third number with a disbursal amount of Rs. 494.20 crore and then Madhya Pradesh with a disbursal amount of Rs. 461.20 crore.
In the fiscal year 2015-16, the Central Government disbursed a sum of Rs. 99.36 crore to 5,835 home buyers under the same scheme, following this Rs. 424.33 crores were disbursed in the financial year 2016-17 to 22,607 home buyers.
The Government disbursed Rs. 2,481.56 crores to 1,12,449 beneficiaries in the financial year 2017-18.
In the present financial year, a sum of Rs. 5,372.90 crores have been disbursed to 2,36,129 home buyers under the Credit link subsidy scheme
