In order to lower down delays in possession of apartments in Mumbai, the MHADA has started formulating new ways to ensure swifter delivery of flats for buyers. The decision has been taken after a meeting between MHADA authority officials and the Minister of State for Housing Ravindra Waikar a few days back.
The new decision will be applicable only on those residential projects which have been registered under the Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA) and have obtained Occupancy Certificates (OC). It will also apply to new MHADA lottery schemes 2018 houses allotment.
Elaborating on the decision, Ravindra Waikar said, “The idea will help eradicate the delay in the process of possession of flats henceforth. Since all requisite permissions will be in place, eventually the possession of flats will be not delayed,”
He further said that the issue was earlier raised by MLC Nirjan Davkhare in a state assembly session over the delay in possession of flats to MHADA lottery winners. Taking action of the issue raised by MLC Davkhare, a meeting has been called in which MHADA officials ruled the reason that many buildings do not have proper OCs due to which the possession of flats is delayed. Hence, Waikar demanded to include only those buildings which have all certificates and approvals in place during the lottery.
Just a few months back Maha CM Devendra Fadnavis has declared that MHADA will act as the nodal agency for all future government housing schemes in Mumbai and its surrounding metropolitan region. In this lieu, MHADA has taken the first step to ensuring faster delivery of flats in Mumbai.
