The housing department of the Maharashtra Government gave approval to construct all dwelling units of Pradhan Mantri Aawas Yojna under the PPP [Public Private Partnership] Model. This decision is applicable to all municipal corporation of the state.

The resolution clearly states that all privately owned land covering five acres area must develop good roads, public transport facilities, healthcare, schools, water and drainage facilities. A detailed project report [DPR] is required to be prepared by the developers/realtors after consulting with the municipal corporations. This detail project report is required to be approved by the state and central appraisal committee.

The ministry of housing and urban affairs has issued the Public Private Partnership units for the policy.

PCMC, the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation has decided to construct 60,000 affordable houses under the public-private partnership. Rajan Patil, the joint city engineer said that in the present scenario PCMC has the capacity to build 10,000 dwelling units and the developers will have to build the remaining 50,000 housing units.

Earlier, Shravan Hardikar, the Municipal Commissioner of Pimpri Chinchwad sanctioned the revised proposal of 1,288 housing units under PMAY [Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana]. According to PCMC, a Contractor is hired for the construction of all these units and each dwelling unit will cost Rs. 9.11 lakh.

The PCTNDA [Pimpri Chinchwad New Town Development Authority] will be responsible for the construction of 2,572 housing. The residential units to be built by PCMC [Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation] will have aluminum windows, gypsum plaster for the walls as they increase the durability of the structure.
