Anil Baijal, Lt Governor recently launched the online portal for Delhi RERA. On this occasion, he said that the portal will not only make the process transparent but will also make the real estate sector accountable.
The Narendra Modi-led Union Government introduced the Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act 2016 to track wrong practices in the property sector. This Act came into existence from 1st May, 2017.
After the launch, LG Baijal tweeted, launched official portal of RERA, Delhi (https://rera.delhi.gov.in). The website will help promote transparency & accountability in real estate sector. Advised to provide an interactive forum for knowledge sharing with other RERAs… I congratulate the RERA team for the initiative.
The RERA Act is framed with the aim to offer a new dimension to the Indian real estate while encouraging transparency, citizen centricity, accountability and financial discipline.
A few days back, the Union Housing and Urban Affairs Ministry allegedly said that the Aam Aadmi Party-led Delhi Government has not sent any proposal to construct dwelling units under the Centre’s Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) in Delhi. While responding to the ministry’s accusation, a spokesperson of the Delhi government said that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) dispensation has its own housing scheme – Mukhyamantri Awas Yojana and a survey for the same is currently underway.
This can be another reason for an argument between the Arvind Kejriwal led Delhi Government and the Union Government as PM Modi was reinstated to the PM post in May recently. The ministry is responsible to deliver housing units to the aspiring home buyers that fall under various categories like the EWS [Economically Weaker Section], MIG [Middle Income Group] and HIG [High Income Group].
In the NCT of Delhi region, the Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board (DUSIB) is responsible to carry out a survey for assessing the demand of housing units in the city.
The Union Housing Ministry released a statement in Hindi and said that the Delhi government has so far not sent any proposal under PMAY (U) to the Union government for any central contribution for the approval.
The statement also informed that the interested applicants can approach the offices of the DUSIB and the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) so that the Delhi government can sanction the same and forward it to the Union Government as it will benefit the residents of the national capital city Delhi.
