In order to solve various property tax related matters of the residents, the Kolhapur Municipal Corporation (KMC) has launched a digital facility that will help new property buyers to register for property tax. It will also issue no-property dues certificates to home buyers within seven days.
Giving more information on the above, KMC municipal commissioner Abhijeet Chaudhari said, “The Kolhapur Municipal Corporation has launched the online facility for these services to bring in transparency and avoid delays. In the coming few days, this service will also be extended for other services like water or drainage connections,”
He further said that from past many time the civic body has received several complaints from home buyers that they are not able to register for property tax on time. Keeping in mind this, the civic body has launched this system.
“With the digital mode, we will also be able to track the status of the application. It is mandatory to get the new property registered in 25 days. After the online submission of the application, our official will get the property tax assessed. In case of a no-dues certificate, the certificate will be issued digitally within seven days and the property owners will be informed through SMS.” added Chaudhari while elaborating on the whole procedure.
An applicant can also submit multiple applications for several properties through just one USER ID.
As per the latest data by the Municipal Corporation, there are around 4,500 applications each year which the body has received for property tax registration. On the other hand for no-dues certificates, the civic body has received over 10,000 applications home buyers very year.
