In order to attract resident to pay their property tax on time, Karimnagar Municipal Corporation has announced that all those who will submit their taxes before April 30 will get a rebate of 5% under the early bird scheme.
Apart from this, a weekly draw will also be conducted to provide prizes to residents who pay their property taxes within this month.
Giving more information, Municipal Commissioner K. Shashanka said, “Till date Rs. 12.68 lakh had already been collected in property taxes from 468 assesses in the town. While in April 2017, authorities had collected Rs. 1.64 crore by providing the rebate.”
He further said that during the 2017-18 fiscal year, the municipality had collected Rs. 18.88 crore in property taxes against the target of Rs. 20.88 crore, which equals to 90.39% collection. On the other hand, during the previous year, MCK had collected Rs. 17.50 crore.
This time the authority has also decided to make online payment compulsory for all tap connections to ensure that more taxes are collected by the corporation w.r.t to the last year collections. To improve transparency and efficiency, Computerization of property taxes and water tap connections of every household beginning from 2007 would also be taken up.
