The UP Government is all set to invite bids to appoint the developer for the proposed Jewar International Airport in the month of November. The information has been given by the YEIDA CEO, which is also the nodal agency for the Project.
Giving more information on the above Arunvir Singh CEO, YEIDA said, “The airport schedule is on track, and the process to award the contract to a concessionaire (the company that will build and operate the airport, like GMR, does for IGI) is likely to be completed in January 2019.”
The state Govt. is predicting that by then the land acquisition work will also likely to be completed.
Currently, the administration is preparing the bid document for the airport in consultation with appointed agency i.e. PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC). Apart from this, they are also working on the notification which will be issued under Section 11 of the land acquisition act to acquire land for the international airport at Jewar.
A delegation of 26 farmers led by Jewar MLA Dhirendra Singh and YEIDA Chairman Dr. Prabhat Kumar met the chief minister Yogi Adityanath few days back and discussed the airport project for 40 minutes. The CM expressed happiness as more than 70% of farmers have happily agreed to give their land for the airport project.
According to the act, the administration needs to have the consent of 70% of farmers before it can start the land acquisition process. Out of 5,926 families, 4210 families have given their consent for the acquisition taking the total tally to 71%. The state Govt is also in talks with industrialists and other companies to provide employment to those farmers who will be affected by the acquisition.
“If all goes by the timeline, then the first phase of the Greenfield Noida International Airport will likely to be operational by 2022-23 with two runways.” A senior official added.
