In order to expedite the work on the Jewar Airport project as directed by UP CM Yogi Adityanath on November 14, the state Govt has approved 1260 crore for the project a day back. The sanctioned amount will be used on land acquisition and payment to the farmers concerned, an official document released from the CM office stated.
Special Secretary Surya Pal Gangwar wrote a letter to the director of state Civil Aviation Ministry in which he said, “The Governor has approved fund of Rs 1,259 crore for the acquisition of land for the Jewar Airport in the financial year 2018-19,”
On October 20, the UP Government has disbursed the first installment of Rs 250 crores so as to stimulate the construction work for the proposed International Airport at Jewar. The funds have been released after the issuance of land acquisition notification under Section 11 of the Land Acquisition Act.
Furthermore, in a meeting held in Lucknow on November 14, the Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath has directed all the officials from Noida International Airport Limited and the Gautam Budh Nagar administration to accelerate work on the project and discussed matters related to the progress and land acquisition for the project.
During the meeting, Yogi Adityanath forecasted, “The airport’s utility is not only for Western UP pockets but also for neighbouring states of Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, and Haryana. The airport would become a milestone in the path of economic development of UP and connect major tourist and trade hubs of Mathura and Noida.”
A total of 1,300-hectares of land needed to be acquired for the first phase of acquisition. The estimated budget for the project is Rs 15,000-20,000 crore.
