Good news for the Jewar Airport! After the successful completion of the pre-bid conference organized by the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA), it has been revealed that many leading Business Conglomerates have shown their interest in the development of the proposed Rs 16,000-crore Airport. Not only these groups have shown their interest but they have also submitted their queries related to the project development.
Revealing more information on the same Shailendra Bhatia, officer on special duty, YEIDA said, “Several executives from the leading companies like GMR Infra, Adani Group, Reliance Infra and L&T have participated in the pre-bid conference. Other companies which were present during the conference were Mumbai airport operator GVK Group, Bengaluru airport owner Fairfax India, sovereign wealth fund NIIF and PNC Infrastructure.”
Apart from the Indian companies several international firms also graced the event. Some of them include Zurich Airport International and Hong Kong ADP etc.
He further informed that around 12 queries were received by the authority and now it will be passed on to project monitoring and implementation committee who will respond by August 31. Till date, around 16 bidders have already submitted their bid. However, October 30 is the last date for filing the applications.
NIAL, the main authority behind the project is expecting more investors to participate in the bid process.
Bhatia informed that once the queries will be responded and approved the authority will publish it on the official website.
“Out of all the queries most of them were related to the bid security amount, ‘golden share’ clause in the bid document and the evaluation process,” Bhatia added.
Both the state and central government are keen to start the operation of the Greenfield International Noida Airport by 2023. Once developed, it will be the second airport in the NCR followed by Delhi’s IGI airport.
