In context with Jewar Airport, Anita Meshram, the divisional commissioner recently said that the administration will commence the procedure to acquire 1,334 hectares land for the development of Jewar airport. She also said that this process will begin from January-end and the administration is hopeful to complete the same by February-end.

Meshram also informed that the administration has sent its report to the State Government under Section 19 of Land Acquisition Act and the acquisition procedure will commence as soon as we receive notification on the same.

She further said that we went through hard exercise and were successful to get all necessary clearances from the multiple departments and authorities. She clearly said that the administration is now in the position to begin land acquisition and the development of Jewar Airport here will attract more investments.

The Divisional Commissioner also said that the strategic location of Jewar airport makes it close to Delhi, Noida and also to States like Rajasthan and Haryana. She also called Jewar a perfect location for the proposed airport as the absence of major development projects, wetland and heritage site will not get affected by this proposed development.

Anita Meshram also said that the administration is planned to have a rapid rail network between Meerut and Delhi through Jewar and this will work as excellent connectivity to the city.

The Jewar Airport project is planned to be completed in a phased manner and both the Uttar Pradesh State Government will contribute equally at a percentage of 37.5% and the Yamuna Authority and Greater Noida Authority will contribute 12.5% each.

Recently, the Yamuna Authority deposited Rs. 74 crore to the State Government’s developmental fund. Similarly, the State Government sanctioned Rs 2,852 crores compensation to the farm owners.

Balram Singh, Additional District Magistrate (land acquisition) said that the administration has received consent of the farmers and carried out the door-to-door survey on the basis of which the rehabilitation & resettlement report has been drafted. He also said that the same report was completed and sent to the State Government.

The locals want to name this proposed airport as Jewar Airport as it relates to the place and its origin. However, the Singh said that nothing is finalized about the project’s name and date of inauguration.
