DRMC i.e the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation is appointed as the consultant to Patna metro rail project. As per the sources, DMRC will receive Rs. 482.9 crore as consultation fee for executing this project that will boost urban infrastructure in the capital city of Bihar. The Patna Metro Rail project is estimated to be completed by 2024.
In a recent development, the JDU-BJP led Bihar Government gave nod to appoint Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) as the consultant to Patna metro rail project.
An official of the Urban Development and Housing Department said that in place of MMRC i.e. the Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation we chose DMRC while considering their experience and track record of completing metro projects within the set deadline.
The Patna Metro Rail Project is planned to have two corridors including the North-South and East-West. The North-South corridor is designed to have metro stations at ISBT-Rajendra Nagar terminal-Ashok Rajpath-Gandhi Maidan-Dak Bungalow Crossing-Patna Junction. Similarly, the East-West corridor will have metro stations at Danapur cantonment-Saguna Mor-Raja Bazar-JD Women’s College-Hartali Mor-Income Tax Roundabout-Dak Bungalow crossing-Patna Junction-CNLU-Mithapur.
The first corridor has a total stretch of 16.95 Kms while the second corridor is 14.45 km long.
The estimated construction cost of Patna Metro Rail Project is Rs. 13,365.8 crore. Both, the Central and State Government will contribute 20 percent each and the Japan International Cooperation Agency also known as JICA will offer financial assistance for the remaining construction cost.
Presently, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation is executing metro rail projects in Noida, Lucknow and Gurgaon.
Earlier in February, the Bihar Government approved the proposal of Patna Metro Rail Project to elevate urban infrastructure in the city.
