Manohar Lal Khatter, the Haryana Chief Minister sanctioned the notification of 535 colonies falling under the Haryana Management of Civic Amenities and Infrastructure Municipal Areas (Special Provisions) Act, 2016. This approval also paved way to provide several essential services in these colonies.
In Ambala, twenty-five such colonies have been regularized as these were earlier called as the illegal colonies. The establishment of these colonies took place several years ago and people are still residing here. The reason for zero development work in these colonies was said to be the illegal area and has been built unlawfully in the earlier times.
Also, many of these colonies are built without concrete pillars for proper supply of electricity and sewage. Today also, the electric wires can be seen hanging on the wooden poles in these colonies. But now the problems of the residents will be resolved as the chief minister regularized the colonies.
The 25 colonies regularized in Ambala included in the notification are King Vihar, Vita Vihar Colony, Surya Colony, Krishna Colony Extension, Naresh Vihar-1, Naresh Vihar-2, JJ Colony, Manmohan Nagar Extension Mandour Industrial Area, Sena Colony, Ranjit Nagar, Uttar Nagar Extension, Mandour Industrial Area-2, Lakshmi Nagar, Ashok Vihar, Shankar Park, Palam Vihar Extension, Milap Nagar, Gandhi Nagar, Krishna Nagar Extension, Deep Nagar, Shanti Nagar and three colonies from Naraingarh.
The regularization of these colonies will increase the work pace in order to provide facilities such as electricity, concrete pillars, drainages, sewage, streets, etc. to the residents of these colonies. All these facilities will be provided by the Government fund.
Also, the property dealers of the city have also sighted relief with the regularization of these colonies. But, they are opposing the decision of 5 percent statutory fee for development charges on the collector’s rate.
