The Municipal Corporation of Gurugram [MCG] has developed an app named Violations and received approximately 830 complaints on the same against unauthorized construction that took place in the city in the past three months.
According to the sources, 570 complaints were registered on the app in February, 172 complaints in March and 88 complaints were registered in the month April.
The MCG officials said that the civic body has launched this app as an initiative to digitize its enforcement operations and presently, all the processes penetrating to the enforcement wing are being carried out online.
Yashpal Yadav, Municipal Commissioner said that this self-developed application is beneficial to make the system transparent and accountable to deal with complaints against illegal construction and encroachment. He further said that maintaining records has become simple and hassle-free with the launch of this application.
Yadav further informed that the application is installed on the phone of every junior engineer in the wing and they are receiving complaints on the same where they need to attend the complaint along with updating the status of the same on the ground level.
He was further quoted saying that in order to update the complaint status a junior engineer is required to be in a specified radius of the spot that is mentioned in the complaint.
The Violation app is developed by an in-house GIS lab to protect the hacking and misuse of the data by anyone. This application also has a feature to send a sealing notice to the defaulter automatically after a complaint gets registered. Presently, the number of illegal construction in the city is on the rise.
The MCG has issued 846 notices over encroachment from April 2018 till February 2019. Apart from this, 398 demolition orders were also passed in the same period. The Municipal Corporation of Gurugram carried out a total of 156 sealing and 141 demolition drives.
