The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority [GMDA] started working to form a resident advisory council [RAC] after a delay of more than one and a half year. Not just that, but the Authority also displayed the names of resident welfare associations (RWA) that are shortlisted after initial screening and draw that took place in January.

The officials at the authority said that 13 RWAs have applied to get included in the council and out these four are not eligible for inclusion. The Joint Action Forum of Residents Associations (JAFRA), Palam Vihar Residents Association, Malibu Towne Residents Welfare Association, and RWA Ambedkar Nagar are the names of these associations.

The primary reason for rejection of these RWAs is that either they are joint associations else they don’t have a website.

The official said that the names of selected RWAs are displayed on the website of Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority and also informed that any person can file a petition against them on the website and also submit the same to the GMDA deputy secretary.

The resident welfare associations are selected under three categories that are RWA of the sectors developed by HSVP, RWAs of areas developed in licensed areas and RWAs of societies developed by MCG.

Under the first category comes the Kendriya Vihar Apartments Owners Welfare Association, seven RWAs are selected under the second category South City 2, Palam Vihar, Regency Park 1, Central Park 2, DLF Qutub Enclave, DLF City and Wellington Estate in DLF Phase V are included.
