The Municipal Corporation of Gurugram is all set to take over eight private colonies in the city by the month-end. This step is directed to be taken after Manohar Lal Khatter, the Haryana Chief Minister presided over the meeting in Chandigarh recently.

According to the officials, Haryana CM directed all urban local bodies [ULB] to take charge of these eight colonies and also directed the department of town and country planning [DTCP] to recover the amount of money listed in the detailed project report [DPR]. This money has to be recovered from the respective developers.

Yashpal Yadav, MCG Commissioner confirmed the news of taking over and said that the issue to take over private colonies was discussed in the meeting that was held in Chandigarh and the transfer of these colonies are likely to take place on January 31.

Till now, both the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram [MCG] and the Department of Town and Country planning were confronting each other on the issue of money recovery from the respective developers of these colonies.

Yadav, MCG commissioner was quoted saying that however DTCP is given the responsibility to collect the recovery amount from the developers according to the listing of DPR [detailed project report] the civic body will also initiate work in order to recover money from the developers.

Earlier, tenders were floated by the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram against the pending infrastructural work in five colonies that are Palam Vihar, South City 1, South City 2, Nirvana Country and Sushant Lok 1, This action was taken on the basis of the detailed project reports (DPRs) prepared by the civic body officials.

Earlier in the past, the developers of these colonies shown inefficiency to complete the mid-struck work due to financial crisis however agreed to pay the same by transferring either the movable or immovable assets to Municipal Corporation of Gurugram.

The developers didn’t keep their promise.

In a meeting chaired by KM Pandurang, director DTCP it was decided that a nodal officer will keep a track on the work progress as the developers of DLF and Suncity colonies agreed to complete the work.

After taking over the MCG will commence work penetrated to road, sewerage, water, drainage, park and streetlights in these colonies.
