The first month of 2019 bought cheers to the Gujarat residents as the State Chief Minister Vijay Rupani sanctioned seven new Town Planning Schemes including one for Ahmedabad. In 2018, the State Government gave approval to more than 100 Town Planning Schemes [TPS] to carry out rapid and vertical development in urban areas of Gujarat. The new schemes have been launched while considering the same development concept.

Chief Minister Rupani also has the in-charge of Urban Development Department and he gave nod to 43 drafted town planning schemes for Ahmedabad in the past one year. The Urban development department has to manage more than 300 acres of land in order to plan urban development on these sanctioned Town Planning Scheme.

In Ahmedabad alone, the development work of Rs. 1,000 crore is estimated to be carried out under these Town Planning Schemes. The five Town Planning Schemes that got sanctioned for Ahmedabad city includes 454 [Hanshpura], 505 [Kathwada], 243 [Ranasan-Muthiya-Chiloda], 416/A Vastral and 117 [Kathwada]. The Urban development department will require more than 750 hectares of land to carry out construction work under these schemes.

CM Vijay Rupani also sanctioned one preliminary and one final Town Planning for the Rajkot city. These schemes include 20 [Nana Mava] and 10 [Nana Mava].

All related authorities are ordered to immediately implement infrastructural amenities in these town planning schemes and the officials are also directed to finalize these schemes at the earliest.

Apart from this, Chief Minister Vijay Rupani also directed appointment of six new planning officers for the Ahmedabad city.
