To curb illegal and unauthorized constructions in Ghaziabad, the civic body may soon approve building maps of the property digitally. The Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) has decided to adopt the procedure followed by Bengaluru civic body wherein they approve building maps through online procedure.
Officials from GDA have visited the Bangalore Development Authority to understand the whole method. They have also submitted the report to the civic body’s vice-chairperson, Kanchan Verma.
On receiving the report, Kanchan Verma said, “While we have been doing our bit to implement online building map approval, the BDA is doing it since 2008. Hence we decided to send our officials to study the Bangalore model which is far more effective,”
She further said that the officials have described her that under this model, there is no manual interference in the overall approval procedure. The software which the Bengaluru authority is using is already fed with the current building bylaws.
“The user has to just submit the building map online. If it confirms the laws, the approval is received in just a few hours. However, if there is any discrepancy in the map, the software immediately cancels it and sends a notice to the user with all the details.” Verma added.
Just a few months back, GDA has decided to use Google maps to find out illegal development in the city. The initiative has been taken after several buildings collapsed due to illegal construction and also to act on encroached developments in Ghaziabad.
