To provide seamless connectivity to the Proposed Jewar International Airport from Delhi –NCR, the State Government is planning to extend the currently running Aqua Metro Line. According to officials, a 29 km long metro line is proposed on the route with Pari Chowk as the interchange station.
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has already finished the Techno-feasibility report of the corridor. DMRC officials will present this report to the YEIDA officials in a meeting next week. The Yamuna Expressway Authority will take up this report in their 65th board meeting for further approval. The meeting will take place later this month.
Sources from DMRC said that this will be a fully elevated corridor which will start from Pari Chowk and end inside the Jewar Airport premises. The 29 km route will pass through sector 17, 17A, 18, 20, 21, 22D, 22E, 28 and 29 of the Yamuna Expressway area.
Confirming the above, YEIDA CEO Arunvir Singh said, “The final feasibility report from DMRC on metro connectivity to Jewar via Pari Chowk in Greater Noida is expected by next Monday. The DMRC officials have already studied the full map and route extension, which we will be present in our board meeting for approval. Once approved, the work on metro connectivity to Jewar will start sometime this year, following a decision on the central-state share of funding for the project,”
Yesterday only, the state govt. has presented their biggest ever budget for the financial year 2019-20 in which they have allocated Rs 800 crore for the development of the Jewar Airport. The govt. is also planning to lay the foundation stone of the Greenfield international Airport this month only so that the work can be kick-started soon. The central govt is expecting to start the operations of the Airport by 2022-23.
