According to a latest report by real estate research firm, developers in India fails to embark their presence on online mediums at the time when the internet is taking the world by storm. The report released by Colliers International revealed that Indian real estate developers must work to improve their Online and Social Media presence which these days becoming favourable among most of the home buyers.

The report titled ‘Digital Real Estate — Winning the Indian Market with Data’ stated that out of the 50 shortlisted web portals of the developers none of them had a traffic of one million (10 lakh) per month. On the contrary, only 16 of them had the traffic of more than 50,000 per month.

As per the report, “Lodha stood on the top among all registering web traffic of 7.13 lakh during last month. It was followed by Sobha (6.10 lakh), Prestige (6.08 lakh), Godrej Properties (5.46 lakh) and Mahindra Lifespaces (nearly 4.2 lakh).

Organic search accounted for more than half of the traffic, while the referral backed 28%.

Sanjay Chatrath, executive director (North), Colliers International India said, “Increasing incomes, urbanisation and economic growth are driving high demand in the real estate sector. Apart from this, Affordable housing is also playing a major part.”

He further said that today working professionals are mostly relying on online portals for property search. Also, with the invention of better and innovative technologies, property shortlisting through internet offers a plethora of other services too.

With a performance like this, it now becomes mandatory for all the developers as well as builder to strengthen their social media presence and engagements.

The report was compiled from last year January to December 2018 data. It showed that over 1 lakh people per month opt for online search for buying and renting houses or flats around India, and around 900 crore pages cater to such searches.
