The Delhi Development Authority plans to step in the luxury housing segment and will offer fully furnished penthouses with terrace gardens and luxe fittings. This segment is occupied by the private builders and the authority is also planning to introduce “super HIG (higher income group)” flats.
According to the reports, the development authority will construct a luxury residential complex in sector 19B of Dwarka in southwest Delhi and this project will comprise of 11 residential towers. These towers will have 1114 flats out of which 932 are planned to be HIG flats, 168 to be super HIG flats and there will be 14 penthouses.
The sources said that this luxury segment project will be introduced by DDA in the housing scheme 2020. The authority in its current housing scheme is offering 18,000 flats approximately with 336 of them being the HIG flats. The housing scheme 2019 is the most expensive scheme by the authority till now as the HIG flats in Vasant Kunj are being offered at a price between Rs 1.4-1.7 crore.
One of the senior DDA officials said that the flats are built no profit, no loss basis. However, the HIG flats are expensive as the money earned from these units are used to subsidize housing for the EWS section. The DDA is also planning to offer financial assistance for affordable housing projects in the national capital city with such premium projects.
As per another report, the Delhi Development Authority is developing penthouses for the first time and they all will be duplex and fully furnished along with feature built-in terrace gardens, luxury fittings and many amenities. The penthouses are planned to have four bedrooms and the super HIG flats will have three bedrooms with attached bathrooms and servant quarter in each flat. The Delhi Development Authority has full confidence that there penthouses can give tough competition to the apartments or the penthouses built by the private developers.
This is the first time when the authority will offer high-end apartments in such a huge number. One of the officials said that the authority has a total 65,000 flats under multiple construction stages all over the capital and out of these approximately 18,000 ready to move flats are being offered in the housing scheme 2019.
The official further said that the DDA still have 48,000 under-construction flats and the maximum of them are estimated to be completed in the next two years. These flats will be ready to be the part of Housing scheme 2020.
