The Central Government has finally given its nod for the development of luxury duplex flats for the Members of Parliament at North and South Avenue, Delhi. The estimated cost of the construction will be Rs 676 crore, says an official document. The CPWD’s proposal to redevelop North and South Avenue residences has been approved by environment ministry recently.

According to the sources, the ministry has given the final environment clearance after taking into account the recommendations of its Expert Appraisal Committee. Currently, there are 228 MP’s residence in North Avenue and 196 units in South Avenue.

The proposal states, “The new building complex will be redeveloped after demolishing the old structures and total 264 new duplex flats will be constructed along with servant quarters and basement car parking.”

An official from the CPWD said during the construction of these flats, due measures will be taken to minimize the impact on surroundings such as piling activities, shielding of construction site, wetting of roads and stockpiles. Also, the administration will plant new trees and develop a green area with 2,490 trees and landscaping.

The proposed project will be developed over an area of 19,91,37 square metre and involves build-up area of 84,252.96 square metre parking. Development of greenbelt has been planned over an area of 1,19,551.29 square metre.

Recently, the national capital has finally got its first full-time Real estate regulator under RERA as the Lt Governor Anil Baijal has appointed retired IAS officer Vijay S Madan to the post. Apart from him, Gyan Prakash Srivastava and Ramesh Chandra have been appointed as members of the regulatory authority.
